Side stand bases make so much sense. Watching your pride and joy slowly collapse into the ground is an unpleasant experience, I know! I put one on a bike as soon as I get it. SW Motech make them from high strength CNC machined aluminum alloy. Nicely finished and easy to fit. Take care - Most don't work on lowered bikes and Triumph Tiger 800 unit don't work with the centre stand.
